WHERE: Clay Studio, Bldg #47
Travel the World (figuratively!) and learn a variety of firing techniques, at a variety of temperatures, in a variety of clay bodies. Through this, students will learn about the rich multi-cultural history of ceramics. From Italy and Spain learn about maiolica, from Japan the central aspect of the tea ceremony called raku, and from Native American Pueblo Indians learn about pitfire and creating the rich, highly burnished matt bucks.
